Learn about our Sustainability Journey

  • Clyde Vet Group

At our practice, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and creating a more sustainable future for our patients, clients, team, and community.

Our sustainability journey began in 2023 when we enrolled in the Investors in the Environment accreditation programme. Thanks to the environmental initiatives already in place across the practice, we were able to progress directly to the Silver Award, bypassing the Bronze level.

In 2024, we successfully achieved our Silver Award, recognising our commitment to sustainable working practices and continuous improvement.

Building on this success, we continued to implement further environmental initiatives and were delighted to achieve our Green Award in August 2026, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to sustainability within veterinary care.

Our Sustainability Priorities

We are continually working to reduce our environmental footprint by focusing on:

· Reducing electricity consumption

· Reducing water usage

· Minimising paper use through digital solutions

· Reducing gas consumption

· Lowering fuel usage and unnecessary travel

· Reducing waste and increasing recycling wherever possible

We are proud of the progress we have made on our sustainability journey and the positive impact these initiatives are having across the practice.

Our key achievements include:

· Reducing electricity consumption at our Lanark practice by 16% since 2022, helping to lower our overall carbon footprint.

· Introducing 10 hybrid vehicles to our fleet, reducing fuel consumption and emissions associated with our day-to-day operations.

· Launching a blister pack recycling scheme across all practices, enabling the responsible disposal and recycling of medication packaging.

· Recycling over 100kg of blister packs through this scheme, preventing valuable materials from going to landfill.

· Reducing paper consumption through the increased use of digital records, communications, and forms.

· Improving recycling processes throughout the practice to minimise waste and increase resource recovery.

· Embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making, from procurement and resource use to waste management and client communications.

We believe that small changes can make a significant difference, and we remain committed to finding new ways to operate more sustainably while continuing to provide the highest standards of veterinary care.
