Jamie Christie
Clinical Director
BVMS CertAVP(ESO) CertVBM MRCVSJamie graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2003, and has a wealth of experience since, working in Wales, Yorkshire, Australia and New Zealand. He completed his Royal College certificate in Equine Orthopaedics in 2012, then joined the equine division of Clydein 2015 in a both ambulatory and hospital based role. He became a clinical director in 2018.

Will Marshall
Clinical Director
BVMS MRCVSWill graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2005, and has spent time in mixed practice in Ayrshire, as well as a large equine hospital in Sussex. He returned to Scotland and joined Clyde in 2012, and oversees the running of our equine division at Stirling. He is a regular treating vet at Ayr and Perth Racecourses and anexaminer for the Worshipful Company of Farriers.

Alison Howie
Senior Vet
BVMS Cert AVP (ESO) MRCVSAlison graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2008, before working as an intern in the equine hospital at the Royal Veterinary College. She joined Clyde in 2010 and has since achieved her Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Equine Orthopaedics, as well as becoming our lead anaesthetist. Outside of work she is kept busy with her two young children and her smallholding.

Clare Borthwick
Vet
BVM&S MRCVSClare qualified from Edinburgh in 2013, and joined our team in 2017 after spending time in equine practice in England, including an internship programme at Leahurst Equine Hospital, part of Liverpool Vet School. She enjoys chatting to all the clients out on the road doing both routine and emergency calls. Outside work she likes running and walking their wire-haired dachshund, Walter, as well as riding when she gets the chance!

Mercedes Perez
Vet
DVM MRCVSMercedes graduated in 2015 before undertaking postgraduate studies in Advanced Equine Practice in Spain. She has been an intern at Barcelona University where she developed high interest in surgery, orthopaedics and imaging. She joined the team in 2019 and has recently finished a certificate in Orthopaedic Surgery. She plays semi-professional padel tennis and enjoys travelling.

Shirley Seed
Vet
BVMS CertAVP (PGCert) MRCVSAfter 10 years in a mixed practice in Aberdeenshire, Shirley moved to a first opinion and referral practice in North Yorkshire. She obtained an Advanced Veterinary Practice certificate in Equine Lameness and became a member of the Association of Racetrack Veterinary Surgeons. She joined Clyde Vets in 2021 and has a keen interest in lameness, poor performance investigations, anaesthesia and surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her 2 children, riding her horse Flo, surfing, climbing and oil painting.

Danai Sklavenitou
Vet
MRCVSDanai graduated from Vet School in 2019 and started her first internship at Equine Veterinary Clinic, at the Greek Race Course. She moved to Scotland in 2020 to undertake a second internship at Glasgow Equine Hospital and Practice, where she developed high interest in internal medicine. She then continued as junior clinician in internal medicine. Danai joined our team in 2022 and has a keen interest in emergencies, internal medicine and surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys horse riding, yoga, hiking and travelling.

Sophie Malorey
Vet
BVMS MRCVSSophie graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2020. After graduation, she completed a busy equine internship at Pool House Equine Clinic, staying on afterwards to start her ambulatory career. Her interests include emergency care and sports horse medicine. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time showjumping her mare and hiking with friends.

Natalie Hind
Vet
BSc(Hons) BVMS MVPH CertAVP(ESM) MRCVSAfter graduating from Glasgow, Natalie worked in general equine practice before pursuing a career in stud medicine. Having worked several back-to-back northern and southern hemisphere breeding seasons, she developed a keen interest in the production of young thoroughbreds through to sales and racing. Natalie has gone on to work extensively in further Sport horse assisted reproduction, embryo transfer and other emerging techniques. Special interests include foal medicine and orthopaedics, embryo transfer and the breeding of problem mares with an Advanced Practitioner certificate in Equine Stud Medicine.

Katy Thomson
Vet
BVM&S MRCVSKaty grew up on the Isle of Arran where she discovered her love of horses. She completed a Zoology degree at the University of Sheffield before going on to study Veterinary Medicine in Edinburgh. Katy moved to Newmarket to complete an equine internship at the Animal Health Trust which focused on lameness and research into pain behaviour in horses. She then began working as an equine vet in the Scottish Borders. Outside of work, she enjoys riding her horse Frodo, hiking, running, yoga, and walking her Jack Russel Freddie.

Judy Arbuckle
Vet
BVMS MRCVSJudy graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2023. Before joining our team, she spent the summer working on a horse riding safari in Zimbabwe. She has a keen interest in internal medicine, lameness and surgery. At home, she has three ponies that she rides in her spare time. She also enjoys going out with her friends, travelling and walking her dog, Poppy.

Eastman Welsford
Vet
BASc DVMAll the way from Canada, Eastman grew up in Southwestern Ontario. He completed his bachelor’s degree at McGill University, where he spent time working on the campus dairy farm and participating in agricultural research. He received his veterinary degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2019 with a focus in food animal and equine medicine.
After vet school, Eastman attended the Cornell University Summer Dairy Institute; a 6-week program for veterinarians in all aspects of dairy herd health, management, and nutrition. He then completed a one-year Large Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Tufts University in Massachusetts where he advanced his skills in equine dentistry, reproduction, preventive and emergency medicine, as well as bovine herd health, reproduction, and surgery.

Emma Bone
Head Equine Nurse
REVNAfter studying equine management at Oatridge College, Emma worked in a variety of roles in Scotland and France before joining the Clyde team in 2015. She is now our senior head nurse, and has a particular interest in surgical, medical and orthopaedic cases. Outside work she competes across the world with the Scotland tug of war team, picking up multiple medals in countries as far afield as China and South Africa.

James McStay
Equine Veterinary Nurse
James joined us in 2015, initially as a groom before moving to his current role. He loves to meet all of the horses that visit the hospital, and has his own horse at home, which he enjoys show jumping with competitively at an amateur level.

Jennifer Gemmell
Nursing Assistant
Jennifer joined our equine team in November 2022 and enjoys meeting and caring for all the horses that come in and learning new things every day. She has previously helped on livery yards and outside of work enjoys spending time with her two Jack Russell’s and own ex-racer whom she hopes to event.

Kalise McColm
Nursing Assistant
Kalise joined our equine team as a Nursing Assistant earlier this year and is loving learning new things everyday! She’s spends her time outside work producing her young 15.2hh thoroughbred cross mare, Ivy. They currently enjoy common rides together and plan to show jump in the years ahead. Kalise also helps her young brother with his string of competition show jumping ponies. She is also an active member of Lanark Young Farmers.

Hazel Steen
Nursing Assistant
After completing an HNC in equine studies at Oatridge, Hazel has worked as a groom since 2010, before recently taking on her new role. In her spare time, she enjoys doing CanniCross and hill walking with her two dalmatians, Comet and Piper. She also has a pony, Mia, whom she hopefully gets out to some unaffiliated competitions.

Stewart Armstrong
Consultant Farrier
FWCFStewart has practiced farriery since 2004 and gained the Fellowship of the Worship Company of Farriers in 2005, making him the youngest person to gain this exam. He has recently been invited by the Worshipful Company to be an examiner and has competed with success at both local and international level.

Eugenio Cillan Garcia
Associated Consultant
LV, MSc, FHEA, Dip ECVS MRCVSEugenio graduated from University Cáceres in Spain in 2004, before taking an internship in an equine referral hospital, moving to the UK to continue his work in 2005. Following a move to the Royal Dick in 2009 he has worked extensively in universities, and became a diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2020. He assists with our surgical caseload, particularly with standing fracture repair and laser procedures.

Sandy Beveridge
Consultant Farrier
FWCFSandy has had a full and distinguished career in farriery for four decades. He achieved the Fellowship of the Worshipful Company of Farriers in 1989, and has demonstrated, examined and lectured all over the world. He had great success competing, including winning the four man Team World Championship in Calgary in 1988 and Individual International Champion in 1992. He was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame in America in 2011.

Geoff Lane
Associated Consultant
BVetMed DESTS FRCVSGeoff graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1969, before moving to Bristol University to undergo training as an ENT Surgeon. He gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1974, is a recognised RCVS specialist in soft tissue surgery and was a BEVA President in 1989. He consults for private referral practices and performs several hundred upper respiratory tract procedures each year.

Lindsay MacDonald
Equine Manager
Lindsay started work with Acorn Vet Centre in 1992, initially as a small animal nursing assistant, and afterwards in admin and dealing with equine and farm clients. After the merger of Acorn Vet Centre and Clyde Valley Vets in 2002 to form Clyde Vet Group, she concentrated on the equine side of the practice and became equine manager in 2005.

Jennifer Peacock
Equine Reception Manager
Jennifer joined the team in 2013 coming from a farming and equine background, as well as being a keen equestrian vaulter for 10 years. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her two sons, watching her husband playing rugby for a local team and walking with her dog and family.

Chloe Allan
Receptionist
Chloe joined our reception team in 2022. She comes from a horse background and has always worked in a customer service or horse-related role. Chloe has competed at many prestigious shows throughout the years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, schooling her horses, walking her dogs and enjoying nature.

Kathryn Muir
Receptionist
Kathryn joined the team in 2008. She has been a horse owner for over 40 years, and came 5th at Blair International Horse Trials 1* on her home-bred mare, Ruadh, in 2005. When not working, she enjoys riding her current horse Milly and helps look after her friends’ horses when they are on holiday. Kathryn also enjoys walking her dog Poppy and watching the wild birds in her garden.

Claire Morrison
Receptionist
Claire joined our reception team in 2021. She comes from a farming background, having been part of the Lanark Young Farmers and studying agriculture at Edinburgh SRUC. She has also been around horses from a young age! Claire is a new mum and is loving it!

Lindsey Maguire
Insurance Administrator
Lindsey joined the team in 2020, after moving up from England. She has worked in customer liaison and support roles throughout her career, including the taking of emergency 999 calls. She is loving life in Scotland, especially as she gets to help out with her best friend’s horses, who live just next door, and also likes to ride in her spare time.

Katie Donald
Receptionist
Katie graduated from Oatridge and has an AC in Equine Care. Before joining our team, she worked in the hospitality industry, with experience as a bar and restaurant supervisor.
She is a novice dressage rider and has owned horses for 10 years, alongside working on a few yards and being part of Pony Club. At home, she has four horses, Ziggy, Jewel, Cooper and Bentley. In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, horse riding and quad biking!

Kay Hughes
Equine Accounts Manager
Kay started working for Acorn Vet Centre in June 1998 having previously worked for the Glasgow University Vet Practice for seven years, and stayed with the team since our merger. She deals with the equine invoicing and admin.

Gillian Mitchell
Accounts Assistant
Gillian joined Clyde in 2007 as part time office assistant for all three divisions undertaking general administration duties. She has completed an NC in Office Administration and an HNC in Administration and Information Management prior to joining Clyde Vet Group.

Accounts Assistant
Jenna joined Clyde Vet Group in 2021 as an Accounts Assistant. In her spare time, she enjoys going on adventures, walking and camping, especially somewhere with a good view or sunset! Also, I love to spend time with friends and going to agricultural shows.
