On The Road Vet Team
Andrew McDiarmid BVM&S CertES(orth) FRCVS
Andrew joined the team in 2002 and has been responsible for our equine operation since 2003. He qualified from Edinburgh in 1988 and saw practice in England before heading the large animal orthopaedics department at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School. His area of expertise is equine lameness, on which he has published scientific papers and lectured at conferences around the world. Outside work he enjoys cycling, curling and skiing.
Neaera Fletcher BSc(Hons) BVMS CertAVP(EM)(ED) MRCVS
Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in equine medicine and dentistry. Anaesthesia, medicine and reproduction. Obtained RCVS certificate in equine dentistry, one of very few vets with this qualification
Mercedes Perez DVM MRCVS
Mercedes graduated in 2015 and continued her education with postgraduate studies in Advanced Equine Practice. She has been an intern at Barcelona University where she developed high interest in surgery, anaesthesia and imaging. She joined the team in 2019 and has recently enrolled a certificate in Orthopaedic Surgery. In her spare time she enjoys kitesurfing, playing padel tennis and running with her dog Sherry.
Suzanne Duncan BVMS CertAVP(EM) MRCVS
Suzanne joined the practice in July 2017 and is a local lass, completing work experience with us while at school. She graduated from Glasgow Vet school in 2006, and spent time at Sussex Equine Hospital, as well as volunteering with The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust. Her interests include internal medicine and race work. Outside of work she is a keen traveller and enjoys clay pigeon shooting, dining out and walking her black lab Wallace.
Will Marshall BVMS MRCVS
Will graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2005, and has spent time in mixed practice in Ayrshire, as well as a large equine hospital in Sussex. He returned to Scotland and joined Clyde in 2012, and oversees the running of our equine division at Stirling. He is a regular treating vet at Ayr and Perth Racecourses and anexaminer for the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
Alison Howie BVMS CertAVP(ESO)
Alison graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2008, before working as an intern in the equine hospital at the Royal Veterinary College. She joined Clyde in 2010 and has since achieved her Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Equine Orthopaedics, as well as becoming our lead anaesthetist. Outside of work she is kept busy with her two young children and her smallholding.
Alice Campbell BVMS MRCVS
Alice has a degree at Hartpury college in Equine Sports Science, as well as Glasgow Vet School, and spent time working in equine and small animal practice before moving to Clyde to focus on equine work. She enjoys all aspects of equine work, especially being out on the road meeting clients. In her free time, she trains for long distance triathlons and enjoys walking her dogs, Tattie and Motsi.
Eilish Busby BVMS MRCVS
Eilish grew up on a small farm in Fife, surrounded by animals – her father was a vet and often brought stray animals home that never left! She graduated from Glasgow University in 2013, and spent three years working in mixed practice in Newcastle and Fife, before joining Clyde in 2016. She can often be found running or adventuring with her dog Tilly, a border terrier with selective hearing!
Jamie Christie BVMS CertAVP(ESO)
Jamie graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2003, and has a wealth of experience since, working in Wales, Yorkshire, Australia and New Zealand. He completed his Royal College certificate in Equine Orthopaedics in 2012, then joined the equine division of Clydein 2015 in a both ambulatory and hospital based role. He became a clinical director in 2018.
Clare Borthwick BVMS MRCVS
Clare qualified from Edinburgh in 2013, and joined our team in 2017 after spending time in equine practice in England, including an internship programme at Leahurst Equine Hospital, part of Liverpool Vet School. She enjoys chatting to all the clients out on the road doing both routine and emergency calls. Outside work she likes running and walking their wire-haired dachshund, Walter, as well as riding when she gets the chance!
Rachel Pretswell BVMS MRCVS
Rachel graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2015. She spent her first 4 years in a busy mixed practice in Orkney. Rachel then did an 18 month House Vet position at Liphook Equine Hospital in Hampshire where her main responsibilities were emergency and inpatient care, anaesthesia and assisting with lameness investigations. She is currently studying towards a CertAVP in Equine Lameness Diagnostics and Therapeutics. In her spare time, she enjoys mountain biking, hiking and travelling (when COVID permits!).
